Chronic Pain & Nervous System Healing
Living with chronic pain can be exhausting. Whether your pain is connected to injury, illness, stress, trauma, or a sensitized nervous system, therapy can help you build a more compassionate relationship with your body, reduce suffering, and reconnect with the life you want to live.
Has Chronic Pain Begun To Take Over Your Life?
Living with chronic pain affects far more than your body.
It can impact your relationships, work, sleep, emotions, and sense of identity. You may feel frustrated that others don't understand what you're experiencing or exhausted from trying treatment after treatment without finding lasting relief.
You may find yourself:
Constantly thinking about your pain.
Avoiding activities you once loved.
Feeling anxious about symptoms becoming worse.
Living in a cycle of tension and exhaustion.
Feeling misunderstood by others.
Wondering if you'll ever feel like yourself again.
Carrying guilt because your body won't do what you want it to do.
Feeling disconnected from your body instead of at home within it.
You may find yourself thinking:
"My body has become my enemy."
"I don't recognize myself anymore."
"I'm tired of hurting."
"I miss who I used to be."
"I just want my life back."
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Chronic pain affects every part of life, and healing involves caring for the whole person, not just the symptoms.
What Is Chronic Pain?
Chronic pain is complex. While it may begin with an injury, illness, or medical condition, pain can continue long after the body has healed. For many people, chronic stress, trauma, and nervous system dysregulation can increase the brain's sensitivity to pain, making symptoms feel more intense and persistent.
This does not mean your pain is "all in your head." Your pain is real.
The mind, body, and nervous system are deeply connected. When the nervous system spends long periods in survival mode, it can become more reactive, making it harder for the body to find a sense of safety and ease.
Healing doesn't always mean eliminating pain. It often means learning how to work with your nervous system, reduce suffering, reconnect with your body, and reclaim parts of your life that pain may have taken away.
A Holistic Approach to Chronic Pain & Nervous System Healing
Living with chronic pain can feel isolating, especially if you've been told there's nothing more that can be done or that you simply have to learn to live with it.
My approach recognizes that healing is about more than reducing symptoms. It's about supporting your entire system.
I integrate traditional psychotherapy with mindfulness, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed yoga, breathwork, Internal Family Systems-informed approaches, and holistic healing practices to help you develop greater awareness, self-compassion, and resilience.
Together, we'll explore the relationship between stress, trauma, emotions, and physical symptoms while helping you build practical tools that support both emotional and physical well-being.
Rather than fighting your body, we'll work toward rebuilding trust, safety, and connection with it.
When appropriate, I also encourage collaboration with your physician, physical therapist, massage therapist, chiropractor, or other healthcare providers. Therapy is not a replacement for medical care though it can be a valuable part of a comprehensive approach that supports both your emotional and physical well-being.

Questions You May Have
-
No. Chronic pain is real. While emotions, stress, and the nervous system can influence how pain is experienced, that does not make your pain imaginary. Therapy can help address the emotional and nervous system aspects of pain without dismissing the physical reality of what you're experiencing.
-
Therapy cannot promise to eliminate pain, but research and clinical experience suggest that addressing stress, trauma, emotional well-being, and nervous system regulation can reduce suffering, improve quality of life, and help many people experience meaningful improvements in how they relate to pain.
-
Many of the people I work with have already seen multiple healthcare providers and tried a variety of treatments. Therapy offers a different perspective by addressing the emotional, relational, and nervous system components that often accompany chronic pain.
-
No. Chronic pain is complex, and every person's experience is unique. My goal is not to explain away your pain but to help you better understand the many factors that may influence it while supporting your overall well-being.
